Srinagar is the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir and this is a city in continuous existence since the millenniums. It came under the influence of Emperor Ashok and it is said that the king introduced Buddhism in this part of the world. This place also came under the rule of Hindu Shahis of Kabul. One of the fascinating shrines of this city is Hazratbal and in this monument, one can find the relic of Prophet Mohammed. In this city, one can find the mosque of Jama masjid and this is also the oldest mosque of Kashmir. The shrine of Hari Parbat is among the historical shrines of Hinduism and this is the shrine where the ancestors of the pundits of Kashmir used to pray.
